Vids from COTA

Spent 3 days last weekend at COTA. It was different from last yr in several ways:

Run groups were now 60 cars instead of 50. The extra 10 cars made it seem crowded. Plus my 987.1 and my brother's 951 were the lowest HP Porsches in our group. Lots of 981s, GT3s, and TTs. We were a knife at a gun fight. But I felt like I ran good lines and made the most of my puny 303HP. Hard to compete when my top speed on the back straight was 130 and the top cars were going 165.

Over half the people had never driven COTA before. We had issues with guys not giving point bys and guys not waiting for point bys. The officials got so upset that they banned passing in 3-9 on Fri, but all that really did was create more freight trains (they restored open passing on Sat). They also got upset with a 981S and his aggressive driving - to the point where they sent him out with an instructor. He settled down after that.

This was the first event where I did rev-matching. Went fairly well but I messed up a few times. Feels more natural now.

I miss my Super Sports. Conti DWs are good tires but not great track tires. It seemed like I was always on the edge. I felt I was running faster than last yr but my times didn't show it. The Contis are good in the rain. I was just outside Lincoln on my way home and raced a tornado around the edge of town. I was driving 85mph in a heavy rain and the tires were solid. But my next set of tires will be SS's.

Enjoy
