I got a Ford Explorer with high miles for my other car. I keep it on the road year round. It is great to have something else for longer business drives, going to shady neighborhoods, loading stuff and for winter of course. I bought it for 4k (but that was with a family discount). I would think you could get something that looks ok and runs well for 5k.
