Have you tried using a clay bar. A lot of imperfections can just be debris imbedded in the paint. If they are actual chips, the touch up route would be more economical, but I would suggest you do your research about the best methods for applying touchup paint. In my personal experience, you can often make an imperfection more noticeable, if you don't know what you are doing. Look into using a fine tip sanding pen, and fine tip applicators, or consider having a professional touch it up.
