You'll need a non e-gas 3.4 from a 1999 996. That would be your easiest power upgrade. Even at that there would a bunch of stuff you would need to change to put a rear engine 3.4 in a Boxster. The 101 projects book has a good write up on what's involved.
Then you might want to spend a bunch more time and $$ upgrading brakes and suspension since you're adding 100 more horses to a car that originally had a shade over 200.
Best of luck if you go this route; it will be a fair bit of wrenching to make it work, but you'll have a wicked sleeper on your hands when it's done.
