Pick up an LG LDA-531 dvd player. It's very easy to convert to region free so you can play any region and downloaded DVD's (not that we do that) and also full DIVX compatiability so you can watch .AVI and MPG files on the dvd player. It also plays MP3 on CD and DVD and JPG DVD's so you can view photo's on it. Basically it will read any damn thing you put on the disc which is great. Most dvd players dont do that.
Also it will up-convert to 480p/720p/1080i through both HDMI and Component out cables which is also quite rare, for you HD guys this is a dream come true.
I watch them all on my Plasma TV in proper 16:9 and it's fantastic just like watching normal HDTV, the quality is quite good. Nothing worse than sitting in front of your computer vs. the couch with a beer.
