I discovered a cracked inner boot on my S two winters back while poking about underneath... it looked like too much greasy fun for me, so my Indy did it when I shlepped the car out in the spring.
Less than $375; parts, labour & taxes and done in under 4 hours.
It would have taken me an entire weekend, almost $100 in parts and CV grease, $100 in tools I didn't have, a few busted knuckles and an overflowing cuss jar.
Wasn't gonna happen to save $175.
I was a bit concerned about how long the boot had been damaged. My Indy found no grit in the CV itself and it's been fine for 2+ summers now, so I'm not expecting any trouble.
