Porsche moved the pedals forward, not right, although the shape of the footwell may subjectively make it feel like they've been moved to the right. Differences in the 987 from the 986 are as follows:

- New pedal caps consisting of a rubber insert and a stainless steel frame.

- Repositioning of the pedals towards the front of the vehicle, enabling taller drivers to find a more comfortable sitting position. The brake and accelerator pedals were moved forward by 10 mm/0.4 in and the clutch pedal by 15 mm/0.6 in.

- The accelerator pedal box is new. It was redesigned with the aim of reducing the number of individual components. A pedal encoder is now integrated directly in the accelerator pedal box. This means that the holder and special control cable are no longer needed. This reduced the module weight by 60% (approx. 600g /1.3 lbs).

The repositioning of the pedals was made possible mainly through a new bulkhead cross member which may also have contributed to your impression.
