986 Bike Rack : Mock-Up

Few problems with the overall concept, but I think they can be worked out.

#1) Top cannot go up/down with the rack installed. It's close, but would need to shave some metal from the center - about 1/4" deep, extending for 6-8" on each side.

#2) Rear tire rests on paint. I'm going to look at those kayak pads and see if they can be retrofitted to avoid this issue

#3) Can't get into trunk. Well, you can because the bike will rotate up, but it won't open all the way without the forks hitting the rollbar

On the bright side - If it's a nice sunny day, drop the top, pop the rack on and head out.

It's 1" angle iron, 48" long. Needs to be trimmed ~3in on each side. The blue is just painters tape to keep it from scratching everything up.

The U-bolt mounting is pretty poor, need to come up with an easier system, and a plastic screw lever or something for quick disassembly.

overall, it's functional for a mockup prototype..
