It is fairly common for one or more of the transmission bolts not to be re-installed if the trans has been out of the car previously. Many of the Boxster Spec racing cars are running fine with only 4-6 bolts rather than all 8. My car has 5.

I'm not saying that this is a "best practice", so don't run out to the garage and start removing transmission bolts. I'm just saying that this happens so don't be entirely surprised if you find that your car has less than all 8.
