Combat window repair

Ok, I know taping a window is nothing new, but when I was in Colorado, the wife was putting down the window and "CRACK!" happened, this is how I got quick even results. The top is being replaced in the spring, so no big deal.

I cleaned the window inside and out with rubbing alcohol, then softened the window with a heat gun on low (I'm sure a blow dryer will do the trick) to flatten it out and prevent further cracking during the repair. I used Gorilla Tape Clear, it is easy to find at Home Depot or Lowes. I had the wife hold a hardcover book on the inside against the window to give me a surface to work on, this allowed me No wrinkles or bubbles and allowed me to really work it against the book. I then repeated the process on the inside (taped inside and out).

Gorilla Tape Clear is claiming it is waterproof, and UV resistant. Seams like a better option that packing tape. Hope this helps someone.
