From my reading of the chart, it appears that the smog check the owner did should be (or should have been) tied to the initial registration of the car in the 31st state.
Thanks SD--- the guys says he had the car smogged, but has not changed registration to CA-- reading your chart it will have to pass a CA smog test

I guess a better question would have been; Do Calif cars have different emission systems than those sold in other states?

i really can't wait to get a Boxster... really looking forward to a top-down tear from Irvine to Qualcomm for Charger games!
