Hi, I am falling fast and hard for an 06 987. Midnight Blue/Grey/Grey. Will be test driving this weekend. Have driven Boxsters before (rentals), so I know how amazing the drive is. A couple of questions:
This Boxster has 17" wheels with Michelin Sport Pilots, which are fairly high profile. They don't look great, but I could handle the looks as long as they don't detract from the performance too much. I will not be driving this car too hard (especially in the beginning!) but would like to take it on a long trip (2000mi) this summer. Would the 17s be better for highway driving? Will the 18s punish me on these rough Canadian roads? Should I try them out and upgrade later if necessary or get 18s with the car?
I am thinking about maxing out extended warranty, for peace of mind re: reliability issues. I plan on keeping this car for a long time. Any info on price of extended warranties from dealer as well as pros/cons would be great.
