Regarding the coolant issues. +1 on installing the latest coolant cap. Also if you have some time pull out the carpeting in the rear trunk. You may discover some crusty chemical accumulations between the metal of the trunk bed and the carpet. If so, you've got a slow coolant leak likely due from an aging coolant tank.

Replacing the coolant tank can be a DIY repair if you're adventurous, but it is a royal pain in the @$$ reaching around both sides of the dividing wall between the engine bay and the rear trunk. Search the forums for write-ups on this.
