Just an update.....I have an Autozone just a couple miles away from my house. Stopped by and of all things....they have a solid aluminum ball aftermarket knob for $20. EXACTLY the type I wanted and EXACTLY the size I wanted. Thank you Santa.

Following the removal instructions at Pelikan, my OEM knob pulled off. There was no set screw.

I ended up doing two mods for this. For the aluminum ball, I used a metal cutting bit in my dremel and created two grooves inside the mounting shaft. The original shaft was about 1mm to narrow....so the grooves allowed it to slide onto the shifter shaft.

I've never liked to height of the OEM shifter either, so I broke the dremel out with a cutting tool and cut about an inch of the shifter shaft.

I took apart the OEM shift knob and used the boot with the new knob. I need to dress it up a bit.....but I'll do that next week.

First test drive was fantastic. I really like the feel of a heavier shifter and this nails it. Thanks for you help guys.
