Buy yourself a code reader. They can be found for under a hundred dollars and are worth their weight in gold when you need one. Whenever I get a code I'll plug it in, get the code and then Google it. It has told me I had a loose gas cap or a bad O2 sensor. And, you can reset the engine light once you identify and fix the problem.
