In my 38 years of driving winters in Northwest Wyoming (Jackson Hole), I can tell you, only studs or chains really work on ice. Once, with winter snow tires on, we got stuck going up Teton Pass. When my friend got out to push, it was so slick he couldn't even stand up, and immediately fell on his face
