Only part of the highway is posted at 85 MPH. The first 28 miles are posted at 80 MPH, and the rest (about 12 miles for us) was 85 MPH.
It's a toll road too, so you'll be billed for it.
The route is almost void of traffic because of the toll, and the experience is more of an Autobahn thing than anything else. Personally, I prefer the country road apex-carving deal. But on this road, one can certainly pound down the miles quickly. We passed a TX Highway Patrol officer doing 92, and he didn't bat an eye.
And yes, you go right by COTA.
