I'm having my rear bumper cover done next week because some guy cut a corner too close and dinged it. The estimate to take the cover off, paint the refurbished replacement cover and reinstall it is $1000. The replacement cover itself costs an additional $500. So the total job is $1500.

I'll bet the shop will quote you something in the $750 - $1500 range. It depends on whether its less expensive to get a refurbished bumper and paint it or to repair the scratches in the existing one and paint it. The shop may save some time by partially painting the bumper cover, but you might notice the difference more between old and new areas a couple of years down the road.

My front has similar scratches from the concrete stop bars you find in parking lots and steep driveway entrances. The scratches can't be seen unless one looks. So I decided to live with them because I'm sure the cover will get scratched in the future.
