Well that stinks! I wonder why the CD Changer has to remain? I think I would almost go for a new head unit then. They can be had with bluetooth for under $200. Crutchfield includes everything you need. Something like these:
Kenwood Excelon KDC-X696 CD receiver at Crutchfield.com
Alpine CDE-135BT CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

Or find a cheap used CDR-220. I am sure there are some out there then you could use the cable.
