Clunk sound in low speed turn
I have a 2001 base Boxster with tiptronic transmission with 94K, I bought with 32K 6 years ago. Street driven only as daily driver and not hard.
Sometimes I hear a clunk sound, when changing directions, usually at low speed, like from a stop sign or changing directions in parking lot and sometime at moderate speed with quick change of direction. Also hear rattles from rear going over bumps, mostly at slow speeds. I assume it is motor mount and possibly transmission mounts. Plan to pull off and check mounts and brackets, a time consuming job. Have not seen oil leak on floor that could be from transmission mount canisters. Thought of what else I should look for when under car. Any help is appreciated.
I recently replaced shocks, top hats, tie rods-OEM. No cracks or signs of degradation of rubber bushing on control arms or wishbones. Had dealer align and check torque on suspension mounting points since I took the front carriage off to check steering rack. This wasn't necessary, but did find $2 alignment bushing missing from suspension carriage where rack bolts on and replaced it.
Do my own maintenance and most repairs at home. No RMS issues, always cut open and check filter for particles. Would send oil sample off for analysis but don't know where to send.
