I hate to expose my obvious ignorance of the finer points of transmission theory, but I'm not following you. There is only one transmission in the car; it can only behave like a clutchless manual (PDK, F1, SMG, Cambiocorso, etc.) if that's what he installed. If he installed an automatic transmission with the ability to be shifted with paddles or the shift lever (Tiptronic, etc.) then I don't see what the other stick adds. That sort of shifting could already be done with the existing Tiptronic shifter.
Either way, this is, shall we say, an inelegant solution.
