Coolant Q, low then mid-level

Noticed the other day that my coolant was a bit low.

When I got home and checked again -- it was mid-level right about
where the MAX words (not line) is.

This evening before heading home from work -- I checked again and
it was low, just below the low mark.

Let it warm up -- maybe 5 min, but it never rose.

So I ran out of patience, jumped in and drove home.

Once again it was at the mid-level point.

I opened the pressure relief valve, I could hear a little gurgling, but nothing serious.

I opened the coolant cap (carefully and with a rag), I could see wisps of steam,
but not a lot. this was while car was running.

No signs of coolant in oil or vis-versa. No CEL, misfires, coolant light.
Everything is running fine -- temps were fine.
Nothing out of the ordinary.

I have no evidence of leaks anywhere -- but I haven't pulled any of the engine trays and looked around.

thoughts?
