All cars have the trip computer and it can be turned on. The instrument cluster from 1997-2000 is different then from 2001 up.
When it is turned on for a 2001-2003 you cannot see anything as the trip computer display is the same as the odometer display. On 2001 up you must have a switch or a stalk to change from the odometer display to the trip computer displays.
On 1997-2000 you do see the trip computer display when it is turned on as the trip computer display is not shared with another display.
