I too thought about replacing my filter. Not that there was anything wrong it - I just didn't feel like cleaning it . However, after speaking with EVOMS, they indicated that the shape and size of their filter was propriety, and there wasn't an aftermarket alternative . In addition, EVOMS insisted that it was "life time" filter . And, with proper cleaning it should never have to be replaced . If on rare occasion one had to be replaced, the price was something like $90 .
p.s. As strange as it may sound, EVOMS indicated that the filter for the 986 intake should be oiled . Whereas the 987 should be used dry .
