Why don't you just put the top into the service position and temporarily remove the insulated metal cover that is fixed above the engine compartment?
Or you could could remove the carpeted insulation behind the seats and remove the access port.
If you drive around with those out of the way for a few miles you should have some idea about the sound, but I think there would be more engine noise than exhaust noise.
Not that I would do it, but whatever rows your boat.....
