x2 on need for annual change at minimum.

I just picked up an '03 and the dealer had done an "oil change." But lord only knows what they put in it. First step -- dump out whatever they put in, and put in proper 0 w40 synthetic.

Since this ain't my first rodeo (2nd Boxster, 4th Porsche), I also did a quick air filter replacement. I was disappointed to see the dealer had not done this, given that replacing the filter itself takes less than 30 seconds once you get into the engine compartment.

My advice to any new Boxster owner is not to be intimidated about getting into the engine compartment, both through the top and through the passenger compartment (there's a panel behind the carpet). Take a nice afternoon and get into it -- this will help to demystify your new prize!

Cheers,
Ron
