True on the way up, but if you have a 5-speed manual, you can kill it in a heartbeat when downshifting on accident. I don't have the Tip so forgive my ignorance if I'm off base, but in the 5-speed manual it is impossible for the computer to stop it if you downshift accidently at high rpms. The 5-speed's clutch manually engages the flywheel without the computer being envolved and the speed of the wheels determines how fast the engine will be spinning when the clutch is released. Too low a gear and you're DRT. With the Tip, the computer engages the clutch so it can read the speed of the wheels and determine if it's safe to downshift or not and avoid the problem before changing gears.
