I guess it's just the old fart in me. The '87 928 doesn't have a switch and the Jeep we just sold had it disconnected for off-road. It's what we're used to.

You know, I don't believe the Euro Boxster models have the switch. We were talking to a guy having no-start trouble in Ireland and suggested he check that switch. He says his will start without the clutch being depressed and asked "What switch? Can't you Americans put the car in neutral?" ROFL Then he got a quick lesson in how the American legal system works and why we have so many "idiot switches" on things.

You ought to see a valet in the 928. Reverse is where 1st normally is. I always tell them when I get out "please look at the shifter before you drive" so they don't throw it in reverse and take out a wall or another car. Just re-painted the shift knob cap and made the "R" red so it sticks out.

Don't think we'll do this to the Boxster, though. Since it's the wife's car I don't think she appreciates the old ways as much as I do.
