De-snorkeling idea
I successfully de-snorkeled my 2000 S yesterday, but have not had a chance to try it out because of 6 inches of snow on the ground. But, I have an idea and would like to know what you all think?
The snorkel tube is about 9 inches long and the front end by the cup is about 3" in diameter and the end that goes in the air box is about 4" in diameter. What if I cut off about the first 5 or 6 " of the narrow end of the tube and inserted it back in the box.
It would seem this would give increased air flow because of the larger diameter and less length of the air to travel. It might also solve some of the problem of water or foreign objects getting into the air box. Also, it might stop some of the hot air from the engine getting into the box.
Has anyone tried this? It seems like you would still get the nice sound. I am reluctant to cut up the snorket in case I wanted to go back to stock. Your thoughts please. Thanks John
