That is why it takes years for ideas to spread and become "socially" accepted. SS medicare and all the rest are at best a ponzi scheme and at worst a huge burden on the economy. they should go. but before you go throwing the big huge log on the fire you have to start small. before you know it we will be ready for the big time.

YOU MUST GET EATEN ALIVE. It's like storming the beach at Normandy. They have to let the entrenched politicians know that there will be second wave right behind the first when the next election rolls around. And a third and a fourth. Just imagine if the Americans had landed on Omaha Beach with slingshots and offering up cupcakes?
This is just the same. Sounds drastic but it really has come to this. The idea that a corrupted Republican party and a corrupted Democrat party is going to allow the other to crack open cuts into entitlements and defense and not use it against the other is universally rejected. This means that reform from within, via 'baby steps' is GUARANTEED to fail. Simple poltical physics. No need to wait 'a few months'. If these Tea Party guys were even afraid to lay out specific cuts or privatization then you can be CERTAIN that they will cave at the first sign of ressistance when the red meat in these deficits comes up for a vote. These guys all want to be re-elected, Democrat and Republican alike. A house on a mud foundation falls every time.
Making tough choices, actually I mean INSANELY tough choices at this stage, and running for re-election are completely incongruent. Put your hope behind the guy who has made the one term pledge not the guy who gives the Sunday Morning politics show the usual Washington two step "yes we mean it this time" answer.
