The LED staying on continuously is usually a sign that one of the switches is stuck. Maybe try a shot of electrical cleaner spray aimed directly at the switch to se if there might be some dirt under there that might get flushed away.

They all click. I tried your suggestion anyway - I like simple solutions. Unfortunately, the symptom remains. Thanks for the idea.
