I was really surprized at the MR2 when I drove it - it had very good handling (I tried it at a much lower speed than I've been comfortable at trying in the Boxster). The price was really attractive too, the issue for me was that it literally had the luggage capacity of a lunch box. And I'm not kidding - maybe the Hulk lunchbox instead of the Little Mermaid, but no more. If I was driving anywhere with my backpack or groceries in the car, any passenger was going to end up with it in their lap (or walking). What was Toyota thinking? So much for customer-focused engineering...
Now, for a car to run in a low cost "spec" class (a la Spec Miata) it would be a blast, because there would be no need to carry anything but me and a tank of gas...
