I can't recommend the leatherette in a convertible strongly enough...particularly if you drive top down alot, or live in a warm sun-intensive climate (FL, CA). I drove top down constantly in CA for a number of years in my BMW e36 convertible and the leatherette does not age or show wear, it can even get wet without problem. It looks pretty good (especially on my 987 without full leather) and is attached in unobtrusive places.

That having been said, i purchased the permaplate treatment from the dealership when I bought the 987, so we'll see if that helps. The interior is guaranteed against 'environmental affects' like sun, excessive dryness and temperature.
