It may be one of the speakers...
I had a similar problem on my '01 Boxster with the right dash speaker, but found out it was the speaker itself. The CDR-220 radio on mine is reasonably easy to remove (you can get the Porsche radio removal tools from Suncoast), but the dash speakers are a pain in the butt since one of the mountings screw is very close to the windshield. You can check that the wires are plugged in securely on both the back of the radio and speakers (and the amp in the front trunk, if you have one). But my guess is it may be a problem with one of your speakers (like mine) since the method Porsche uses for securing the plugs is very good.
