I actually remember my Dad got pulled over for driving in the left lane going the speed limit (70) in CA. He was driving a truck with a 20' enclosed trailer. He was legally forbidden to be in the left lane and his speed limit was 55, not 70. That of course is in some areas, not others, but he never paid attention to it anyways.

On my last trip to CA I got nailed with laser while I was doing 80+ in the right lane, the officer just pointed the gun down and waited for the next guy.

So not everybody everywhere are enforcing all the wrong laws.

If it were up to me the driving licenses would be more like Scandinavia. Three or more years of training before you can get a license. This includes "high performance" driving and advanced car control. More than just pointing to the gas pedal that passes as education here.
