I talked with a very reputable Porsche mechanic. He told me that on the newer cars the battery is used as a capacitor in the electrical system. If the value on that 'capacitor' changes, you can end up with some weird faults. Even if the battery is good enough to start the car. I had some strange 'system failure' dash warnings that went away after changing the battery.

Just possible insight as to why your trip odo. reset and time jumped.
