Sounds like you fermented V8 juice in your Box. Fermentation process can produce a foul odor like you describe, from the formation of sulfur compounds. Try sprinkling some baking soda on it to absorb some of the smell. After a few hours vacuum it up, and re-apply as necessary. If you want it to have a nice aroma, you can mix the baking soda with cinnamon, cloves, and some other herbs like rosemary or lavender.
Lemon juice will remove most odors, but I don't know if it will affect the color of the carpet. You might try it on floor mats from a different car before trying it on your Boxster. Or try it in a small inconspicuous area.
