Many thanks Jake - this has set my mind at ease knowing that I should not get a large oil puddle when I pull the housing and oil filter off. I may wait until my next full oil service for the swap...not sure at the moment.
MPToledo - I indeed saw that thread, but wasn't sure if you had taken the filter completely off, or just the housing to get the o-ring back on the canister. Thank you for your input. I was imagining a steady stream of oil flowing out once the filter itself was pulled out and off.
