Well the rotors are essentially large heat sinks. Their function is to get hot.
How hot is mainly a function of how you drive the car, so hi-temp paint is not out of place here. Can you get by with 'normal' paint? Maybe, but probably not for the same length of time before it starts peeling and/or changing color due to the constant heat.
