You probably already know that when the pavement gets much below 40 degrees, the high-performance summer tires quickly become very slick.... I recall seeing one post on the forum from someone who totaled his box driving it with summer tires in cold weather.
But that's probably what you meant about working from home.
I tried garaging my baby for the winter, but couldn't stand it. Now I put on the all-season radials and drive on.
