This sounds like the IMS failure occurs more often in this kind of situation than when the car is being driven hard.
If you're serious about keeping the car for a long time, you might want to think seriously about the engines from flat6innovations. They appear to have done alot to address the inherent weaknesses of these engines. It is $13k with your core, so it's not a bargain, but it's a more robust solution than just buying another engine.
