What they should do (or have done) is assign a number to the Boxster family like the 911. Under 911 they have Carrera, Targa, Cabriolet, Turbo etc but all based on the same family. It would have made logical sense to say, okay the Boxster family is the 550 family (or what ever) and under the 550 family we have Boxster, Cayman etc . . . . That would at least go with the other model line and it would also draw a clear path from the Boxster to the Spyder which I think is lost on a lot of people. If nothing else it will help keep the Porsche website from getting cluttered.
I fully agree with Bruce and Q, because of my own experience. When I went to buy the car I had totally forgotten about the Boxster I did not remember the car existed. I consider myself pretty savy about cars yet the Boxster eluded my radar. It was only when I visited the Porsche showroom that I feel in love with the Boxster. I fully agree that the number 550 Spyder should there since that car was the genesis of this design and style. It appears to me that Porsche eventhough significantly helped financially with the Boxster relagates it to background in all of their advertisement campaigns. They show the 911 ad naseum and some Cayenne. I consider that screwy in their part.
