Question Oil pressure switch-sensor leak

I brought my 2000 Boxster S to a local garage to pass a provincial inspection and they told me my car was fine aside from an ''oil pressure switch (or sensor)'' leaking little drops of oil onto the exhaust manifold.

They told me it wasn't too important but that it might cause a burning smell coming from the engine and if the leak gets too important well it might burn more...

They told me I should get a new oil pressure switch so that there is no leaking onto the exhaust manifold.

1-Is this common?

2-What the hell does this mean and can someone explain to me in detail what might of caused this and its long-term effect on my engine

3-Can this be covered by my CPO warranty?

4-How much $ and where can I purchase this part if it's not covered under CPO?

Many, many thanks!
