Congrats and welcome to the boards, great color combo. If you can, drive your new box on the sunny dry winter days. Keeping the mechanics working throughout the winter is the best way to avoid issues after a long sit. I would change the oil, top off the other fluids and inspect the car from top to bottom while I waited for Spring to arrive. Nice choice dropping the vette for a 986, here's one that couldn't keep up
