Question 18" Lightweight Carrera rims with tire size?

Hi Folks,

I am about to finally order some 18" Lightweight Carrera rims on Wheel Dynamics and I want to make the best decision on tire sizes.

Gemballa North America recommends that for a '01 Boxster I should go with the following tire sizes for the 18" rims (8x18 ET50 mm front and 10x18 E47 mm rear):

Front: 225/40/18
Rear: 285/30/18

I am planning on putting Yokohama AVS ES 100s...

After doing some research on the forum, I found out that some people have had problems fitting a 285/30/18 tire on the above wheel rims while some have not (ie. the tire rubs the strut).

Apparently, the actual width of the tire can vary slightly depending on the tire brand. Has anybody had any problems with the above set-up for Yokohamas w/o using spacers?

Should I just go with

235/40/18 (frt) and 275/35/18 (rear), just to be conservative?

This Boxster has not been lowered and it would only be driven in the street.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated...Thanks, guys...
