One smart soul in the forum (and I've forgotten which one) suggested use of a non-slip gel pad from Officemax. I got one for my passport and put it on the left side of the steering wheel up against the windshield. It doesn't leave suction cup marks on the windshield (though those cleaned off without problem), I think it's less visible to the nice fellow operating his radar gun, and it's easy to take down quickly if I should get pulled over.
