Excellent point! Mine were full of leaves, road debris (rocks, bits of wood, etc.) and even a couple of cigarette butts. Taking a crevice tool on your vacuum and carefully cleaning it so as not to bend the fins or break the plastic grillwork should be very helpful to keep the temp gauge where it belongs.

Of course, if you like, you can remove the front bumper cover and do it properly, but that's a couple hour's work.
