I'm weary of those kits for Boxsters.

I was as well but several folks on Rennlist are reporting that it works well on their Boxsters.

I bought one for my car a long time ago and attempted to install it. The lamp itself was too long and there was a shield preventing it from fitting properly.

The lamp was too long, like the HID bulb was too long? What shield are referring to?

I ended up installing the kit in a Mazda 3 (also H7 lights). To this day they, surprisingly, still work, but just reading the instructions for installation should make you worry. They're written in broken/poorly translated English.

Hahaha, everyone seems to crack on the instruction manuals.

There's no splicing required with those kits usually.

Do they use some type of harness to connect the car's power to the ballast?

Where did you buy your HID kit from?
