And actually, they did fix that issue. How many times have you heard of people getting stranded on the road because of their shift linkage failing? It was a pre-production bug that you saw on that video.

Mine sometimes jumps to 1200 rpm's and sometimes just 1000 rpms. |
Depends on whether it's a cold or warm start.
Your figures are consistent with my warm starts. Cold goes above 1500 on mine. |
