Heqdlights?
Love the headlights. Mine are clouding over and not responding well to cleaning, and I've never loved the fried egg look. Can you tell me where you got them?

I finally found a German distributor/manufacturer with CE/TÜV certified products...I think I gonna go full fast & furious...lol
Stripped down the lower plastic padding on the driver's side and checked the proof of concept. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1648921896.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1648922300.jpg |

I don't need the Porsche lettering on the door.
As an idea: last attempt reminds me on something like the BB Porsche 911 SC built by Rainer Buchmann, but with a different color scheme. And as always: i like your approach doing things different. |
Oh my Lord, I lost it....
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1658521376.jpg fiat lux...wip running 4 glas fiber cables from an LED on the back of my iphone holder, just to illuminate a pretend radio dial ...the apple charging puck had to be relocated for better performance ...and a new USB-C 65Watt charger had to be installed and powered directly from the fuse box. These wireless charging devices need a lot of juice ...it offers now an additional monitor for tire pressure and additionally two flickering amber lights with no purpose ...and more I used every inch possible of the frame and when it's fired up, it looks like a Notfallbeleuchtung on WW2 UBoat. |

http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1659301821.jpg WHAT HAPPENED?? http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1659897501.jpg BURL WOOD DESIGN http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1659897536.jpg ATTACHABLE sun shade. As it is blocking the view on my iphone sreen quite a bit, I decided to only attach it, when the sun is too glary. I can easily store it under the middle arm rest. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1661029140.jpg Okay...so this is the last "version" (still minor things to do) of it. NEXT and FINAL step will be an iPad mini, but it has to have wireless charging (they still don't offer that)...maybe in 2023/2024. Until then I'll have fun with my little iphone holder/recharger with additional features. |
Boxster California...
I used to drive all the time to the beaches in Northern Germany and Denmark. Some even allow cars on the beach. And yes...the Boxster is perfect for the beach, sand and dunes. What the Boxster really needs is a foldable sun shade, which spans over the entire interior and 2 boogie board holders would be cool too. Should be easy to design and engineer. What I did today (just to keep the sun away) worked, but that's it. I might put that on my project list...something cool looking...for the beach...Boxster California. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1659899760.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1659899816.jpg P.S.: SAND is a nice souvenir, which you can enjoy even after years in your car. Porsche offers officially Otto Fuchs wheels (Fuchsfelge) for the 993/996/986.
I still remember when they were offered for the 993, how I contacted Otto Fuchs and together we got them with TÜV on my 986. So I kind of paved the way for the 986. NOW Porsche offers them in high glossy black, gentled with a laser engraved PORSCHE logo (somewhere, I could not detect it on my scan). PORSCHE, if you read this somehow...I would like a 18" set in black ;) http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1664645864.jpg |

Hahaha...
If I had a cutter/plotter...I would have done those stickers myself. But there is (i hope) a tiny little detail, which I can't "unsee". The Porsche "original" is not outlined. That alone is worth 80 bucks (taking nail sissors and cutting those away takes at LEEEEAST 1 hour...times man power cost). Just kidding, we're Porsche nuts. There is no substitute. ;) |
Your car is a great resource.

The seller of the handbrake graciously agreed to ship to the U.S. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1667747345.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1667747405.jpg My original plan for installing the handle was to remove the console and swap in the handle assembly. This process requires dying the leather on the handle assembly black and disassembling the center console. I have experience with both dying leather and removing the center console and I expect no issues with either processes. The challenge I have is that the wood handle is missing the piece of leather trim that finishes the area between the handle and the rest of the assembly. I will need to remove that piece from my existing assembly. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1667747467.jpg Do you have any suggestions for removing this part without damage? It appears that I could pry it up with a plastic tool, but I want to confirm that. Based on the photos of your car, it appears that you may have twisted off the old handle and simply slid the new handle on your existing assembly. I'm concerned that if I do this, the existing handle will break because it is already cracked. I will appreciate any guidance you are able to provide. Thank you |
Wow, nice! Those are really rare pieces.
As you mentioned, I only removed my old leather handle and re-installed the wooden one. And that was tricky enough, as they hardly come of and the fitment of the wooden handle was sub-par. Lots of filling was necessary. How about contacting the seller, he might have an idea what happened to the top piece and how it came of. Btw. mine is just standard plastic, yours is leather...i guess i need to upgrade that, too (once you know, how the disassemble it) ;-) But honestly, I could image, that it might be possible to push it back a few mm and then it can be lifted up. Just a guess, if I look at those screws. |
Interesting, it has a wooden button?
As I remember brute (dosed) force was necesarry for the (dis/re-)assembly, as those handles slide on grooved rails (within the handle). The wooden one's were subpar, so I had to use tiny precision files to shape those for a perfect fit. Once it sits, it sits. I could imagine taking it off again will harm the fitment and you have to use glue later on for a permanent fit. To put it in a nutshell: Go the route with reinstalling that missing upper piece. You might want to ask in the general segment, if someone (Woody?) could check that on some spare brake handles. |
The handle has to come off first.
I think fixating the complete handle by the hole and pulling the wooden handle grip with a hankerchief or something that gives you grip will help will help to pull it off. Maybe heating up the wooden part of the handle will also help? Not too hot. Maybe 70-80 degrees celsius. Here are some pictures. You can see, that the carbon part is overlapping the alcantara part. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1667931460.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1667931483.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1667931503.jpg |
Thanks. Your photos and information are helpful.

I prepared the assembly for installation
I dyed the leather black. The dye requires application of several light coats. I allowed about an hour for each coat to dry.
Coverage by the first coat is minimal: http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1668198698.jpg The second coat shows progress: http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1668198831.jpg The third coat provides almost complete coverage: http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1668198925.jpg I also removed the leather trim from my existing handle. Although it was already black, I applied dye because it had faded from years of sun exposure. I wanted to ensure an exact match. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1668199060.jpg Finished product - I applied 4 coats of dye to the assembly and 2 coats on the trim piece: http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1668199209.jpg I will allow the dye to cure overnight and install it in the car tomorrow. |
I need those tires, an adjustable ride height and ready is the Boxster Dakar.

I ran into a barrier when I attempted to install my new handbrake. If anyone has suggestions for removing the handbrake lever from the emergency brake assembly, please respond to this thread:

What was/who was your source for the top (not side) 3-piece decal stripes?
Thanks, Mike |
